Live Volcano Tour Hawaii
What best way is to see the live volcano in Hawaii’s Big Island. I will be there in Kona for only full one day
I will have a rental car, but also want to know if I should rather take a guided tour?
Is taking a helicopter ride (which I suppose is quite expensive) worthwhile at all?
Tina your answer is very insighful. I have more followup questions. Like if the helicopter is that close to volcano’s eruption – can we get sucked in? Also which company to take helicopter ride – how much is a good price – and should it be bought while we are there in Kona or pre-purchase on internet? – Do we have to drive there – for how long or we get picked up from hotel/ What are the other MUST see places in Kona, Honolulu and Maui?

Go to Volcano National Park. You can take a helcoptor tour or guided tour, but I don’t think they take you that close to the live flowing lava.
You should hike up yourself!! But well…you need somebody who can lead you to where the lava is…But it’s worth hiking. Well take a look at the link I put below on sources.
