Any advice on Oahu Vacation? Couple of 20-somethings trying to have an awesome time?

My boyfriend and I are going to Oahu for 7 days in a little less than 2 weeks. I’m trying to find out what sights would be best to check out, we’re not trying to just spend the whole time at the hotel in the pool, we actually want to see Hawaii and not just a tour bus. So with this being said any advice on best places to see/ things to do. Also if you have restaurant suggestions that aren’t crazy expensive and that feature traditional Hawaiian/ Polynesian food, or anything really besides burgers and fries that would be great.

There is so much to see and do on Oahu, we were there 8 days and I didn’t get to see everything that I wanted to do.

You definitely want to spend a day at the world famous Waikiki Beach, take another day to drive up to the North Shore and stop in at Dole Pineapple Plantation and try pineapple ice cream YUMMY!! You can hike Diamond Head, visit Pearl Harbor, take a tour of the Iolani Palace, take a sunset dinner cruise, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center -stay for the luau and the night show Horizons. Um what else, oh yes go shopping at the International Marketplace, we enjoyed eating at the Shorebird Cafe and Beach Bar.

A great website that I used when planning our Hawaii vacation was www.gohawaii.com. You put in the island you plan on visiting and then what you want to do weather it be hiking or something and it gives you all the options available. My husband and I didn’t do any tours we rented a car and did our own thing which was great because then we were on our own time and no one else’s.
